man, i hate swatching
i admit it--i LOATHE making test swatches, especially when i have to use my good yarn! but for this event, i thought i better do it, mainly to test the weight of the fabric. i am making a lighter weight clapotis from sport weight yarn, and while i was mostly sure i wanted to use size 6 needles, i decided to make 100% sure i didn't need 7's instead. but it's all good--i am just going to do an extra increase set, and maybe an extra straight set as well, and i think that will make up most of the size difference i am seeing.

That's Axelle's yarn, right? It's a knockout. You might try the scarf-size version at kpixie.com. It'll give you a sense of the increase and straight rows if you have time.
I love that yarn - it's going to be gorgeous! Can't wait to see how it is coming along.
